So I have not written in this blog awhile. April has been a crazy month. On April Fools' Day, I ran in a halbmarathon in Freiburg. I only had a month to train , so it was more difficult at the end. But, overall, it was so fun! We began and ended the race at Messe Freiburg, which is this huge conference center. There were literally thousands of runners from all over the world. The halfmarathoners ran one time around the ring(21 km) and the marathoners ran the ring twice(42 km). For a majority of the run(especially in the Innenstadt) we ran on cobble stone. Two men ran barefoot. I wonder how their feet felt after all that. One guy was 90 years or so and the Freiburg marathon was his 400th marathon(or some crazy number like that). A couple runners wore lederhosen. Now that HAD to be uncomfortable. Oh and another guy wore a plastic butt.

Every new kilometer brought with it a new type of music. The constant music was great. Otherwise, the running would get very monotonous. The marathon was naturally a huge event in the city. There were so many people cheering us on. In fact, there were so many people on the bridge, that I could barely see the actual structure of it. My friends(Mary Jo, Gretchen, and Andi) came and cheered. It was so sweet of them!
The running did hurt a bit, but at the same time, it was probably the most beautiful run i've been on. Now I know other places to run in Freiburg.
I came in around 2 hours and 10 minutes. I could not imagine doing the whole marathon because at the end I was exhausted. I had a day of rest and then on the 3rd I began my vacation, starting in Munich.
